This is the graveyard of Cheltenham Chapel, which was used from 1810 to 1889. Dr Edward Jenner lived close to the chapel from 1795 to 1823, and the chapel was regularly used as a centre for vaccination. In 2009 the gravestones, tomb railings were all lovingly restored, paths laid and the graveyard planted with flowers. Gardens open daily.

The Company can trace its roots back to the 1730s when an Act was passed allowing the creation of a navigation to link Stroud to the River Severn in Gloucestershire, England. It is believed to be the oldest surviving canal company in the world. This website details the heritage of the Stroudwater Canal.
The Cotswold Canals comprise the Stroudwater Navigation and the Thames & Severn Canal. Together this 37 mile route used to link the River Severn at Framilode, to the River Thames near Lechlade, both of which are in Gloucestershire. About 6 miles of the Cotswold Canals is currently being restored, with the work due to be completed in 2014. The remainder of the route is largely unnavigable. This website illustrates the current condition of the Canals through some 300+ photographs. These show the progress of the restoration and all the surviving major structures, infilled sections and other obstructions to navigation (where access has been possible).
