The Cotswold Canals in Pictures - Gloucestershire Family & Local History
The Cotswold Canals comprise the Stroudwater Navigation and the Thames & Severn Canal. Together this 37 mile route used to link the River Severn at Framilode, to the River Thames near Lechlade, both of which are in Gloucestershire. About 6 miles of the Cotswold Canals is currently being restored, with the work due to be completed in 2014. The remainder of the route is largely unnavigable. This website illustrates the current condition of the Canals through some 300+ photographs. These show the progress of the restoration and all the surviving major structures, infilled sections and other obstructions to navigation (where access has been possible).
