Hobbies and Leisure Activities for Adults in Gloucestershire

The Club runs a range of courses for people wanting to learn how to fly through to advanced courses. Trial lessons available.

For anyone interested in birdwatching, whether they are a beginner or a more experienced observer, the Club runs a programme of weekly talks during the winter months and has regular local and further afield birdwatching trips throughout the year. The Club also has a newsletter, weekly updates on all things ornithological, takes part in bird recording and organises social events.

This club provides for teams of 12 players to play skittles (nine pins). We are part of the Cheltenham Area Civil Service Sports Association (CACSSA). The Winter League, our main competition, usually starts in September and continues to about the following Easter. Teams of 12 players play once nearly every week. Also knock-out competitions and Summer League.

The club meets on Monday evenings from 8pm to 10pm. A range of equipment is available - beginners welcome.

A group of Wargamers dedicated to the hobby of heroes. We play Warhammer Fantasy Battle, 40K, Mordheim, Necromunda, Blood Bowl and loads of other GW games. We also play Flames of War, Napoleonics, Warmachine, Blitzkrieg Commander, Warmaster Ancients, Legends of the High Seas and a whole bunch of other stuff. We play a huge variety of games and scales, are avid painters, scenery builders and hobby enthusiasts. We are always looking for new members but because we operate the club where there are bar facilities we only take members 14+ (under 16s must be accompanied by a supervisory adult).

A great way to meet new, like minded people. Round Table brings together a wide variety of men from across Cirencester and the local area. From brewery tours to rugby games, poker nights to international trips, Round Table is fantastic fun for all involved. Every year Cirencester Round Table raises close to £20,000 for a host of local charities and good causes. Fundraising is the heart of what we do!

Part of a national network of enthusiasts for mushrooms, fungi and all things mycological. Members are encouraged to learn to identify fungi with the help of experienced identifiers. Fungus forays typically take place on Sundays, although there are some Saturday fixtures at the height of the Autumn and Spring seasons, visiting a wide range of site.

Do you want to have some fun and help your community and those less fortunate than yourself at the same time? In reality, fundraising takes up less than 10% of Round Table activities, but it is great fun, as well as personally rewarding. We've been jet biking, go-karting, dry slope skiing, we've played 5-a-side football, golf, cricket, gone on bike rides and weekends away as well as organising the annual Dursley bonfire and fireworks display and the Christmas Float with Santa.

The club's aim is to organise shows, road runs and working days where local enthusiasts can bring their vintage vehicle or machinery and help to raise money for local charities. Would you like to become a member? Come to our meetings and see what it's all about!

The Friends have an ongoing programme of events such as Craft Demonstrations, Boat Jumble, talks and boat trips etc. Friends are welcome and encouraged to take part in museum activities such as restoration of exhibits, guiding, demonstrating, operating working exhibits, carrying out research. Or you could just enjoy being a Friend and free entry to the Museum during your membership.

We meet weekly at a number of sailing venues including Gloucester Docks, Over canal basin, Saul Junction and the Stroud Water canal. We also use the irrigation pond of a local farmer near Newent where we have a beautiful model yacht sailing course set up and highly unpredictable winds to go with it!

We meet on the second and last Tuesday evening of the month. Social events, educational and informative trips as well as fund raising and helping out local charitable causes, including the annual fireworks display at Gloucester Docks. GlosARG comprises of volunteers across Gloucestershire; it has been created for anyone who is concerned with the conservation of native frogs, toads, newts, lizards and snakes. New members are welcome. We believe the best way to learn is hands on; you will get close-up experience of snakes, lizards, frogs/toads and newts across the county. At the same time you will get to meet like minded people, with a passion and enthusiasm to conserve our Herptile population, so why not join us today?

The Group works to conserve and educate; we carry out active conservation projects for bats and also undertake a range of educational projects to inform the public about these much misunderstood creatures. The group aims to assist the public with enquiries and concerns regarding bats and to provide educational activities, such as bat walks, and talks. The group runs a programme of public events throughout the year, at which members of the public are very welcome. We also run a wider program of events for bat group members.
